Islamic fundamentalists in the heart of Europe – how dangerous is it?
I read an article in the Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/02/AR2010020200755.html – it claims that there is a group of Islamic Fundamentalists called Wahhabi Muslims in the Muslim dominated parts of Bosnia. Bosnia is supposed to be only one hour away from Italy and Austria.
The police have raided this village, but the local population who are Muslims were protecting these Wahhabis.
The danger seems to be that European Union is considering lifting visa requirements for Bosnians which would mean that these fundamentalists would be able to travel across Europe freely, thus raising the potential of terrorist attacks.
How serious is this for Europe, and how come there are these fundamentalists there?
During the war, the Muslim side invited over hundreds or thousands of Muslim radicals from places like Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Indonesia, Sudan, Iran, etc. These people went around Bosnia fighting in battles and perpetrating atrocities over Serb and Croats Christians. Search “El Mudzahedin.” Their central base was the Bosnian city of Zenica, where the most numerous atrocities against Serbs and Croats were perpetrated.
Many of these guys married local Bosnian Muslim (European) women and had families with them. After the war, they never left, and settled down permanently.
