European Union Work Authorization

If I buy a property in a country of European Union, does it grant me legal residence right? How does it work?

Can someone please explain me what is the process of getting legal residence, by buying real estate?

I’m not looking for a work authorization, but just the right to live there without visa

And does it depend on where I go? Or all the EU have same laws?

And what about taxes? How much will I pay ?

ps : I am a citizen of a south asian country.

Thanks
@Jason, you are from Britain?
A lot of Britons come to my country for buying properties.
They actually come here for something else, as they think money can buy anything( if you know what I mean).
You don’t want immigrants in your country?
I don’t want perverts in my country.
So stfu !!

The European Union is composed of 27 sovereign countries which all have their own immigration laws. A residence permit is in general issued for a longer stay than for tourist travel (90 days) and it is based on the occasion of the prolonged stay like being a student, working or being engaged/ married to a EU citizen. Buying real estate does not justify the issue of a residence permit.
Some countries in southern Europe offer long stay visa (resident permits) for non-lucrative purposes, provided the applicants have purchased or leased a house or apartment in the country. Those visa/permits are issued to wealthy people who can show proof of financial independency without working. An annual income of at least €60.000 is required for that visa. It is in general granted to non-EU citizen who are retired and want to stay in France, Italy, or Spain beyond the visa duration of 90 days..
