European Union Visas To Us

Renew visa while overseas?

I’m a US citizen currently in a European Union country, who has about 40/90 days on their passport left. Is it possible to get this extended without returning to the states and flying back? I have financial reasons for needing this.

Also, when it does expire do they come looking for you and put you in some detention center till the deportation papers are done?
it’s just the 90 day stamp you get at the airport. I want to get another one when the time comes.

Do you need to renew your passport or your visa? If it’s your passport, you can apply for a new passport through the US Embassy in the country where you are. If it’s a visa, you need to check with the immigration department of the country you are in as every EU country has their own immigration process. It will depend on your visa category and whether or not it can be extended.

If you get caught overstaying, you will normally be placed in a detention centre, then deported and will face a 10 year ban from reentering any EU country

Major pro-western shift in foreign policy if EU visa-free roadmap adopted?
