European Union Travel Visa

European Union?

I am planning to go to Germany, and a couple of countries around it next summer, do I need to get visas for all of them? or since they are all under EU now, is it even necessary to get a visa? How do I go about that? Please explain if you have traveled to Europe recently! Thanks

It depends on your passport country. Even the tourist visa-waiver members (US, Canada, Australia, NZ) get a stamp in passport upon first entry to Schengen Border–this effectively acts as your tourist “visa” during your visit.

You might need to familiarize yourself with “Schengen”. The Border Agreement membership consists of many countries in continental Europe with common border control–so you don’t have to hassle with it for each country. UK, Ireland, Switzerland are noteably not members of Schengen Border, and the short-list of visa-waiver countries above means you generally get 90 days each of those (non-Schengen members) to play tourist. Keep in mind that Schengen acts as one border meaning you get an entire allotment of 90 days tourist entry per 180 consecutive days within the Schengen Agreement Border countries.
