What do you think of Sepp Blatter’s plans to bring in a ‘player quota’ rule?

Fifa president Sepp Blatter is pressing on with plans to limit the number of foreign players at clubs, despite Uefa and European Union disapproval.

i can see why blatter would want to limit foreigners… he sees certain major clubs (mostly english, it has to be said) who have big-money, multinational squads.

i think chas sums it up very succinctly. blatter will never get his ‘gentleman’s agreement’ to stick as it requires the co-operation of EVERYONE… governing bodies, national associations, clubs and players… and could be easily challenged in the international courts.

who will it benefit? look at tannadice… 4 irishmen, a pole, a norwegian, a frenchman, a ghanaian, a surinam, at least one englishman (just off the top o my head) and we think we’ve got a homegrown team these days… most clubs will find themselves in the same boat.
