Survey focused on Europe and EU knowledge?
Hello everyone,
I am doing a survey focused on people’s understanding of Europe and European Union. Please, answer following questions, but do NOT cheat, the whole purpose would be pointless. If you do not know the answer or not sure, state “don’t know’.
Thank you
1) Please state your gender, age, occupation (student, employed, unemployed) and nationality
2) Do you consider yourself European?
3) How many members doer EU have?
4)Name at least 6 members of EU
5)Name 3 locations where EU parliament meetings take place
6) What is the purpose of the Schengen zone and do you consider its influence as positive or negative?
7) Is the United Kingdom part of the Schengen zone?
How do you benefit from EU?
1) Male, 24, Structural Engineer, Irish
2) Yes, and proud of it.
3) 27
4) Ireland, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Romanian, France, Malta etc.
5) Strasbourg and Brussels, It has administrative offices in Luxembourg but doesn’t “meet” there.
6) Borderless travel, less hassle but Ireland isn’t part of it so I don’t really know.
7) No
In too many ways to measure, beside the obvious economic benefits, and being able to move and live anywhere in 27 countries, I absolutely love meeting people from new European Union countries, I love that they bring their own traditions and culture to my country, enriching it. For example just the other other day me and one of my Polish mates went to see Snow White and Russian Red a polish film in the Jameson Film Festival, the film is absolutely bonkers. Now I can’t ever imagine I would have ever even of heard of that film if it wasn’t for the European Union and Polish people moving to Ireland and my life would be slightly less interesting because of that. It is these tiny immeasurable benefits that build up over time the sharing of our culture I truly love and I believe this to be the greatest benefit of the European Union.
State of the Union Address 2010
