The Israelis claim this land but mainly because the British established a homeland for the Jewish people. Prior to this time, the land was Palestinian and has been Palestinian for over 400 years. This story is a little lilke the Jews left their house (for whatever reason) and others still lived there. Later, they come back and want their house back…the British allowed it and the US got involved with the British failed its mandate to control Jewish immigration. The assumption that this land has always been Jewish is stated only in the Old Testament and not inn any political reality.
