Can someone tell me how political campaigns are financed in European Union counties?
How does the system in, for example Britain or France, compare with ours?
Are corporate donations allows as in the U.S.?
Or are all elections financed with public money to stop corporate interestes from gaining favor with politicians as happens here?
In Uk political parties are funded in many ways. The opposition parties (ie Liberal Democrats and Conservatives) are given state funding to compensate them for the fact that the ruling party currently Labour can use the civil service to advance their political goals.
Parties also rely on party memberships but these are in decline and parties are also rely on donations from trade unions, businesses and wealthy individuals. These are also in decline and so all political parties are in debt particulary the Labour and Conservative party.
Although the main difference would be the difference in the amount of money in Uk compared to US. Your political system has more money in it and so is more vulnerable to companies and individuals buying influence.
