Will there be a United States of Europe some day just like United States of America?

Thanks to European Union, shengen agreement, the common currency Euro, European council etc. European countries have became more and more connected, how much further it will go?

A single foreign policy is expected to be created for EU in 2012 and a common EU military is planned to be formed as well.

No, it can never be that.

Europe is a mish-mash of different languages and cultures. The language divide will always remain, so the continent cannot ever be unified like America is with a single language and culture.

It also prevents people moving around and mixing more. Someone cannot just uproot themselves from Germany and go live in France or Italy if they don’t speak French or Italian.
