Speedy PCs no longer need to be huge desktops

This Windows-based screensaver gives your desktop 230 animated flags, on a flagpole and waving in the wind. Select from 225 national flags – such as United States, Great Britain, Canada, France, Australia or China — along with other flags including the X1300 Battery Olympics, United Nations, Confederate flag, European Union or Jolly Roger pirate flag.

Ideal for the latest crop of flash memory-based camcorders, Kingston Technology has just announced the availability  of its 32-gigabyte Elite Pro SDHC (SecureDigital High Capacity) flash memory card.

“We have some duty to respond,” said Green. “If  we do have an attack, people are going to want to know why we didn’t move forward.”

This new 32GB card ($308 MSRP) is the largest capacity in Kingston’s line-up, capable of storing roughly eight hours of video (for 6Mbps HD long-play recording) or Compaq Presario X1300 Battery more than 6,000 still images (taken with a 10 megapixel camera).

Travelers who plan to use their laptops on the road should consider weight and battery life. The tiniest laptops weigh about 2 pounds, while bigger models can break backs at 15 pounds or more.

That’s why his bet is video game retailer GameStop (GME), which sells the newest games and consoles and older ones, too. “They are the arms dealers in the middle of the world war,” he says. But with a price-to-earnings ratio of 40, it’s not exactly undiscovered, either.
