The Eu Concour Epso Exam – The Reasons Why
If you would like to apply for a job in any of the political institutions – The European Commission, The European Parliament and the Council through the EPSO Concour Exam then read on!
The EPSO Concour applications are open to university degree graduates and available online since 16.03.10 until noon (Brussels time) on 15.04.2010 on http://europa.eu/epso/apply/today/adm_en.htm
There are 323 positions available to be drawn from 27 Member States with 105 places for graduates of European Public Administration, 43 places for law graduates, 39 places for Economics graduates, 64 places for audit and 72 places for IT graduates.
The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) organises the testing and recruitment. The location of the tests will be in Dublin and Brussels. The tests will be designed to assess cognitive ability and situational judgement, will focus on seven “core competencies,” identified as analysis and problem-solving, communicating, delivering quality and results, learning and development, prioritising and organising, resilience and working with others.
Expected salary for the AD5 grade is about €4,267 euros a month with tax at a special EU rate.
There will be many more EPSO Concour competitions over the next years to fill the expected retirement of about one third of European Commission staff and half of Parliment staff (graduates of founding members and of Ireland, UK and Denmark 1973 accession) in the next ten years.
Many of us do not understand how the EU functions and how the workings of the European Parliament, Commission and Council hang together. My book The Reasons Why fills this vacuum and will assist you in your preparation for the EPSO Concours exam. I will walk you through the workings of the Commission, Council and Parliament, explain how the Lisbon Treaty has changed the architecture of the EU and of course explore factually how we got here. http://www.youtube.com/user/TheReasonsWhyEU

An immensely valuable contribution to the current debate. It serves as an aide to our collective memory as to why Europe mattered to us in the past and why it can only do so more in the future”
Taoiseach – Brian Cowen T.D.
“This is a clear, no nonsense statement of why the European Union is of great benefit to Ireland, and of why a committed Ireland is of great benefit to Europe .”
John Bruton – EU Ambassador to USA and former Taoiseach
This book is a bridge to Brussels. It should be in every business boardroom, on every editor’s desk , in every teacher’s briefcase- and of course is well worth a space on the shelf of every concerned citizen.
Senator Eoghan Harris
This is a book that will resonate with the general public. It’s also an essential guide for anyone who takes a keen interest in European affairs.
Batt O’Keeffe, Minister of Education

Opening Up The Internal Market (Europe on the Move) From the back cover: “For the European community the single market of 1992 is the next and most important goal.
