European Union Banking Regulations

european union banking regulations
Does Euro-zone country shares same fiscal policy like their euro-monetary policy ?

I would also want to know more about the European country’s fiscal policy. Like, do they bounded to any regulation that set by the European Union or the European Central Bank ?

The answer is NO. Since interest rate and money supply are controlled solely by ECB in Frankfurt, active fiscal policies are necessary to ease the negative impact of external shocks. The Euro area then does not have a central authority to determine fiscal policy. This results from the reluctance of member states to give up control of taxation and expenditure policies. But they agreed to establish strict fiscal guidelines as outline in the Maastricht Treaty(1992) and the stability and growth pact(1997). The country applied to be a member of the Eurozone must also be subject to a strictly controlled process. But there are some evidences that the restrictions on national fiscal policies have had adverse affects in some member countries. The rules are therefore not so strictly applied. The Greek case is also a good example.
