Do you need both UK and French Visa?

My friend from the Philippines would like to apply for a tourist visa to come to London and I was wondering if he needs a visa to go to Paris should we decide to go there from here? (if not) Is there a visa that would allow him to go from london to france without having to apply to both British and French embassy? Visa to roam within the European Union perhaps.

Your friend will need a visa for both countries.

Consider a visa for use within the schengen space – this should allow travel to many european countries including france, but the UK is NOT part of this visa.
